Unannounced Inspection visits by Government authorities are nothing new for the Mission College in Kazan. However, they feel the recent visit in the last week of May was more rigorous than those before. The Ministry of Justice officials checked all financial and personnel records. They also checked all the College library books and literature against a ‘banned list’ – looking for anything that they would class as ‘extremist’.
A board member of the college also was visited at his home, again inspecting all his books and literature.
All the churches in the Association of Evangelical Churches Tatarstan have also had inspection visits, and have been told that this will continue to happen on an on-going basis.
Please pray for the College staff team, and church leaders in Tatarstan – they they will be given continued courage, wisdom and discernment – in what may be a shift towards a more close and regular monitoring by the authorities.
